Mr & Mrs Sykes

A seemingly ordinary day for many, however for these two lovebirds it was the beginning of a brand new chapter of their love-story. Their WEDDING DAY! I can’t believe I have the privilege of knowing these two, and that I got to witness two incredibly loving and generous souls come together before their friends, their family and their God, to become one. A trademark of their relationship is their faith - let me explain. Josh and Paris had an outdoor wedding and reception, and on their wedding the forecast was saying it would be storming. I was up at 2am the night before their wedding and not only was there a storm, but there were also severe thunderstorm warnings being broadcasted for the Coffs Coast. In the morning, I arrived at the ceremony venue to set up and it was so dark, there were storm clouds all around. Leading up to the wedding, Paris was convinced it would be sunny - she had full faith that her God would hold back the storm clouds and bring forth the sunshine, so naturally she refused to have a back-up plan. In fact she requested a song be added to the set-list for their time of worship. The song is called “Yes and Amen” by HOUSEFIRES. The song is all about how faithful God is, and how we can trust God’s promises. Check it out if you want. Anyway, Paris walked down the aisle and the thunder claps were so intense, and you could feel the rain was about to fall. The celebrant did his thing and then we sung a few songs but when we started singing this song - I kid you not, the sky parted and the sun came through. It was nuts! Meanwhile in Coffs Harbour, there was a huge thunderstorm with giant hail-balls going on. It takes a huge amount of faith for someone to look at a weather forecast but still choose to hold on to the promises of God.
“Now faith brings our hopes into reality and becomes the foundation needed to acquire the things we long for. It is all the evidence required to prove what is still unseen.”
Hebrews 11:1
Some of you may just be checking out my website and browsing and that’s so fine, by all means skip this and carry on. For those of you who want to, look at each and every one of these photos with the knowledge that it’s the evidence of a day that was a complete miracle. A complete display of the faithfulness of God. I hope that for Josh and Paris, their journey as a married couple would be just as full of life and faith as their wedding day. It’s a scary thing to put your trust into someone that you can’t see, but in Josh and Paris’ experience - trusting God paid off and became the evidence of a present and faithful God that one cannot physically see.
As you look through these images, I hope that you won’t just see the nice shots with the lovely colours - but that you would catch a glimpse of the essence of these photos.
